You’re relocating to a place with security devices
A new house may come with a security system. All the alarms and cameras work, are hung in the right places, and are ready to go. In this case, just turn on the phone to call and start a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to make sure there are no integration problems, and they could offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you add on.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make the process easier. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment or smaller home, you keeping the Vivint service might be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and take your home security devices with you
You may need to bring along your existing home security components with you to your new home when you move. That’s pretty easy to transfer, as many smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each component by yourself or use a professional installer to take down everything. Then an expert will put in the same features -- and any smart services you need to add -- in the new home. And your home security contract will stay the same.
